The area features steep, rocky ravines and dense hardwood forests characteristic of the Appalachian Mountains. It encompasses a diverse mix of mesophytic forests, including oak, hickory, and maple species, as well as a variety of mosses, ferns, and wildflowers in its shaded hollows and rocky outcrops. The natural area is an important habitat for a wide range of wildlife, including black bears, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and numerous songbird species.
